SOUTH SHORE GARDENS

McBryde Gardens
Secluded between rugged cliffs dropping down to a verdant valley floor, McBryde Garden is a treasure house of tropical flora. Explore the unique biodiversity of native and exotic plants recognized for their value and their beauty. See rare and endangered Hawaiian species and learn about the efforts to save them. Stroll through McBryde Garden’s Bamboo Bridge section.  Visit the living laboratory where scientists are still discovering the secrets of these plants. Take a trip back to ancient Hawaii in the Canoe Garden. Follow an ever-changing stream as it meanders toward the sea. A worldwide collection of fascinating plants that is “tropical” at its best. Share in the richness that is the McBryde Garden.
Days: Monday through Sunday
Hours: 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m.
Distance: Combination of transportation by vehicle and one-mile walk at an easy pace.
Cost: $15 per person - tours self-guided, self-paced. There are trams that travel into the valley every hour on the half-hour. Trams exit the valley every hour on the hour.
Reservations: Not required - first come first serve basis.

Allerton Gardens
Enter the gates of this once-private estate and wind past cliff-top views of a protected bay below. Stroll through outdoor “rooms” beside rippling pools and fountains and dramatic sculpture. Drink in the sights, sounds, smells, and textures of fascinating plants, vibrant flowers and flowing water. See species of plants that are extinct in the wild thriving in the NTBG nursery.
Days: Monday through Saturday.  Call for Sunday tour times.
Hours: 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m.    Duration: Approx. 2-1/2 hours
Distance: Combination of transportation by vehicle and one-mile walk at an easy pace.
Cost: $30 per person; tours guided.

NORTHSHOREGARDENS

Limahuli Gardens
Towering peaks sculpted by eons of wind and rain are in the background of these gardens.  Tours of the lush, 17 acres of garden and rain forest offer visions of natural beauty and intriguing Hawaiian culture. Walk the land where taro still thrives on ancient lava rock terraces. Learn about native plants of the Islands brought by the Polynesians.
Days: Tuesday through Friday, and Sunday
Hours: 9:30 a.m. through 4 p.m.
Duration: Guided tour 2 to 2-1/2 hours. Self-guided tours 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
Distance: 3/4-mile walk on a loop trail - steep in some areas.
Cost: $15 per person for guided tour. $10 per person for self-guided tour.

Na Aina Kai
Whatever the season, expect to be entranced as you tour our gardens by foot or onboard one of our covered, motorized carriages. Depending upon the tour you choose, you will travel to one or more of the diverse destinations. Soon you will understand why we say that each garden, indeed every spot along the way, has its own personality and mood, and seems worlds away from wherever your journey to Na ‘Āina Kai began.
Days:  Tours are offered each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday throughout the year. They range in length from 1.5 hours to 5 hours. All tours are guided and suitable for children 13 and older. Children younger than 13 will enjoy one of the “Under the Rainbow” Children’s Garden Family Tours.  $15-$35 per person
